About this site

Publisher information · last updated 27 August 2026

Spinborough House is a small, independent British publication that compares online casinos licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. That single sentence covers most of what matters, but here is the longer version.

What we are

A comparison and review site — nothing more elaborate. We select a small number of UK-licensed online casinos, verify their licensing against the Commission's public register, examine what they actually offer, and publish plain-spoken verdicts with star ratings. Alongside the comparison we write practical guides on the things casino marketing tends to blur: bonus terms, slot mathematics, and the safer-gambling tools every licensed operator must provide.

The name on the door is the publication. Spinborough House is the publisher of everything on this website, and the desk can be reached at editor@spinboroughhouse.com for editorial matters, corrections and anything else on our contact page.

What we are not

We are not a casino. We take no bets, hold no player funds, run no games and process no gambling payments. When you click through to an operator, you leave this site entirely and deal with that operator under its own terms and its own licence. We are also not a regulator, not connected to the Gambling Commission or any government body, and not affiliated with GAMSTOP, GamCare or GambleAware — we link to them because they are the right doors to knock on, not because we speak for them.

How the site is funded

Affiliate commission. Some operators pay us a fee when a reader opens an account through our links. There are no subscriptions, no paid placements presented as editorial, and no advertising banners. This model pays for the site and creates an obvious tension, which we manage in the open: our rating method is published, our licence facts are independently checkable, and our affiliate disclosure spells out exactly how the money works. The short test of whether it corrupts the output: two of the six casinos we currently list carry our lowest published score and explicit warnings about their licensees' regulatory history.

How we work

Every factual claim about licensing on this site is checked against the Gambling Commission's public register before publication, and the date of the most recent check is printed in the footer of every page. Where a fact could not be verified from a reliable source, we leave it out — an honest gap beats a confident guess. Opinions, meanwhile, are clearly ours: a star rating is an editorial judgement, not a certification, and we label it as such wherever it appears. The full approach, including how corrections are handled, is set out in our editorial policy.

A word about the audience

This site is written for adults in Great Britain who already gamble or are considering it — never for children, never for people trying to stop, and never as encouragement to gamble more. If you are here because gambling has become a problem, skip the comparison entirely: the responsible gambling page has free, confidential routes to help, and GAMSTOP can block your access to every UK-licensed site in one step.
